4A Molecular sieve

The type 4A molecular sieve is an alkaline aluminosilicate; it is the sodium form of the type a crystal structure. 4A molecular sieve has an effective pore opening of about 4 angstroms (0.4 Nm). The type 4A molecular sieve adsorbs most molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 4 angstroms and excludes those that are larger. Such adsorbed molecules include simple gas molecules such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and straight-chain hydrocarbons. Branched-chain hydrocarbons and aromatics are excluded.

Typical application

Regeneration of the 4A molecular sieve

The type 4A molecular sieve can be regenerated either by heating in the case of processes with heat differences, or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure differences. To remove moisture from the molecular sieve 3A requires a temperature of 200-230°C. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can produce a dew point temperature in moisture below -100°C. The concentration at the outlet during the pressure drop will depend on the gas present and on the process conditions.

Attention

To avoid carbon dioxide or pre-adsorption of organic matter, it must be reactivated before starting.
