The design and operation of the open type amperometric sensor SCLO 3 HYCHLOR - is a flow-through galvanic cell installed in a transparent case, which has a cathode (made of gold or platinum) and an anode (silver or copper). Sensors are also integrated in the cell body: temperature and flow. The measured flow of water (40-60 l / min) passes through the cathode and anode, where part is decomposed at the cathode. The formed ions enter the anode, where they are oxidized - a current occurs proportional to the concentration of chlorine in the water, the level of which must be measured.
The design of an open sensor and a flow cell has a very high response rate and reliability (unlike closed sensors), which is necessary for an unstable level of the substance being determined (most often active chlorine) or for working in water with increased hardness, where it is impossible to use closed membrane type sensors, due to the rapid overgrowth of the membrane with hardness salts
